In DreamsWhen I sleep
I have dreams where I've
never known you because
they are places where
you've never existed.

My lovers
fight with valour
and vigor in battles
which your circumspection
would hold you from.

At night I plot
with them; help formulate
plans and tactics
for the next attack,
defence, escape.

Lying
quietly beside them - head
on their chests, all
that ever comes to mind
are the flaws they can't change;
They betray my heart
with their failures
through ommission.

Some nights
I leave them behind
determined to either
perish proudly or
survive in solitary.

I pull away as
they sleep
sliding to the flo
